General Crowder,
I have the honor to report that the U.S. Muddy River Brigade engaged the enemy during the recent actions. We drove the enemy as far as possible. My men were willing to advance into the open and take those guns knowing full well the cost it would incur on our ranks. But we held our position as ordered and only withdrawing upon your orders. Casualties were 3 killed and 9 wounded. I am indebted to my 3 company commanders who each performed able service. Capt. Christensen of Company B deserves special attention for protecting my right flank on the trail. His Irish are tough fighters.
